Tami is a premier Concert Violinist and Recording Artist of immense versatility. Tami is a premier Concert Violinist and Recording Artist of immense versatility. A native of South Louisiana, this classically-trained violinist embraces her "Creole" roots by performing classical music infused with jazz, blues, gospel, and hip-hop. Since making her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra, she has extensively toured the United States, Europe, Costa Rica, and Bermuda, championing the music of African-American composers. Her debut solo album, Albany Record's Legacy: Violin Music of African-American Composers (2011), gained critical acclaim and has been featured on radio broadcasts around the world. She launched The Legacy Show, a live concert inspired by her solo album, to celebrate African-American History and Culture through the Arts, and, the artistic and cultural contributions of African-American composers. She performs on numerous recordings, including projects for Grammy award-winning artists Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, and Aretha Franklin.
Tami is an enthusiastic teacher with a passion for inspiring violinists. As founder of the Integrative Violin Arts Studio (IVAS), she trains intermediate and advanced violinists for the modern world. During her 20 years in the music industry, she has learned that successful artists must thrive both on and offstage, and she is dedicated to sharing the "essentials of success" with young artists. Tami is a sought-after scholar in the field of African-American composers. She gives presentations to student or general audiences of all ages, highlighting repertoire of African-American composers, performance practices related to their music, and cultural factors that influence their work. Tami's research, inspired by her debut recording Legacy: Violin of African-American Composers, has been featured in articles for Strings Magazine, Africlassical.com, Tutti Magazine, and Muse Magazine. Through her lectures, she aims to introduce audiences to composers who have influenced the landscape of music in America and beyond, and, to inspire audience members of all backgrounds to study and perform their music. In addition, Tami presents lectures about launching performance projects. Using The Legacy Show as a platform, she guides students through the process of taking a project from conception to the concert stage.
